Bat Soup Might Be Responsible for Coronavirus

News of the Wuhan coronavirus has been spreading globally. And now, there’s reason to believe that it could have originated from fruit bats, via bat soup.

The South China Morning Post published the following statement: “The Wuhan coronavirus’ natural host could be bats… but between bats and humans there may be an unknown intermediate.”

People are sharing clips online of people eating bats floating in a bowl of broth. This soup is considered a delicacy in some parts of China.

Gao Fu, the director of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention said in a report published by Rappler, “We already know that the disease originated from a market which conducted illegal transaction of wild animals.”

16-year-old Muhammad Idul was recently fishing in southern Indonesia. Imagine his surprise when a needlefish leapt out of the water and skewered itself right into the teen’s neck!

He wanted to catch a fish that day, but not like this. Thankfully surgeons were able to remove the fish after two hours of surgery.

And it’s a good thing that Idul didn’t try to pull the fish out himself.

Professor Dr Syafri K. Arif said to news site Makassar Terkin, “To remove the fish snout, one must be very careful because there is a large vessel in the neck.”

Idul remains in the hospital so that the doctors can make sure that no infection develops.

“It was just so disgusting that my body started to shake in a way that was very unusual…I didn’t even know what was happening.”
