China Reclassifies Dogs and Cats as Pets Instead of Livestock

People who work in China in the dog and cat livestock industry might want to start googling “new hiring jobs near me” after this new announcement by the Ministry of Agriculture.

In the announcement, they wrote: “As far as dogs are concerned, along with the progress of human civilization and the public concern and love for animal protection, dogs have been ‘specialized’ to become companion animals, and internationally are not considered to be livestock, and they will not be regulated as livestock in China.”

Throughout China, dog meat is still considered a delicacy. But the new ruling has been identified by lawmakers as a “universal civilization requirement for a modern society.”

A Shenzhen government spokesman said, “Dogs and cats as pets have established a much closer relationship with humans than all other animals, and banning the consumption of dogs and cats and other pets is a common practice in developed countries and in Hong Kong and Taiwan.”

The new ruling on cat and dog meat is a permanent ban.

Martial Arts Instructors Roaming Streets as Spider-Man to Cheer Kids Up

So many children are stuck at home and unable to play with their friends. Because of this, two martial arts instructors came up with a plan to help put smiles on their faces.

Andrew Baldock, 44, and Jason Baird, 44, dressed up as Spider-Man and started roaming the streets.

“This is a very difficult time for everyone so I just wanted to do something to put a smile on people’s faces,” said Andrew.

“The reaction I have got from kids when I go out has been incredible, they absolutely love it. If I can make someone happy, even if it’s just for a moment, then it’s worth going out.”

Andrew also explained that they’ve been very careful to keep a distance from people. They only go out once a day, and they keep within walking distance of their own homes.

He said, “I fully understand there are rules in place at the moment and I’m making sure that none of them are broken when I go out.”

How a Personal Food Delivery Dog Is Helping People During Lockdown

A dog in West Sussex has been delighting his neighbors by bringing them homemade food during the coronavirus lockdown.

His owner, Kate Mitchell, 28, was worried about her British Bulldog, Sheldon, feeling lonely about not getting enough human interaction.

So, she thought of a way to encourage both her dog and her neighbors. Mitchell started to send Sheldon out with a special backpack laden with homemade goodies.

“Since Sheldon and me have been social distancing and with my workplace being shut, I’ve really noticed Sheldon missing his usual interaction with people,” said Mitchell to LADBible.

“So we decided to bake and deliver homemade cookies to our local community and neighbors to cheer everyone up – plus give Sheldon that interaction he’s been craving!”

As expected, the neighbors were very happy to receive a special gift from Sheldon.

“The look on some of their faces was beautiful – Sheldon is a very popular and loved dog in the area anyway so people welcomed him in for a quick cuddle! I waited outside obviously. I even had one person message me saying, ‘Thank you, that made my day.'”

Mitchell added, “Sheldon is an absolute character and loved by everyone. He has a very loyal and caring personality which is why he took this task very seriously and was a very good boy!”
