Chicago Man Charged With Murder After Fight Over Thanksgiving Leftovers

Authorities in Chicago said man has been charged with murder after a fatal fight that began when he put his hands in Thanksgiving leftovers.

James Dixon, 28, is charged with killing Vincell Jackson, 52, who was the boyfriend of the Thanksgiving party host.

Dixon was seeing “digging into the leftover food with his bare hands” and Jackson tried to escort him out of the home, the Chicago Tribune reported.

Prosecutors said Dixon “sucker-punched” Jackson and stabbed him nine times on the porch, according to the newspaper.

Dixon ran away from the house, leaving Jackson leaning over the porch banister with stab wounds, the Chicago Sun-Times reported. Jackson later died at a hospital.

Dixon was caught with a blood-covered knife, the prosecutor said.

He told investigators he fought with Jackson but said he was stabbed first.

The 28-year-old was treated for a small cut on his neck and cuts on his fingers at a hospital before he was arrested, police say.

Defense attorney Patrick Ryan said Dixon was properly defending himself. A judge set bond at $350,000, the Chicago Tribune reported
