Former NFL running back Arian Foster is just one of many players that have “taken a knee” during the national anthem. He feels that his actions are not even close to being disrespectful.
Recently, he was asked to join Fox News Tomi Lahren’s No Interruption to debate the highly controversial issue. His comments seemed to render Lahren speechless.
After Lahren said that kneeling was “showing disrespect to a National Anthem and a flag that means a lot to people,” Foster told her what kneeling really means.
“It’s actually… a submissive sign,” Foster said. “It means you’re honoring whatever it is you’re honoring. [The gesture] is not disrespectful in nature.”
He went on to explain that the kneeling protest sought to honor veterans and those that protect the country. It’s a way to show respect while also raising awareness to the cause the players are fighting for.
