Celebrities are no strangers to teaming up with companies to sponsor products. Just think of how many athletes are on a box of Wheaties every year, or the latest clothing team-up with Target… how many celebs have their own line of sneakers or makeup?
This is a bit of a unique one, though. Snoop Dogg is teaming up with none other than the breakfast and coffee giant Dunkin’ Donuts to unveil his new sandwich: the “Beyond D-O-Double G Sandwich.”
I’m not sure the world is ready for such a creation.
Dunkin’, like many companies, is pushing their plant-based meat alternatives pretty hard. Burger King, Subway, Hardees… they all have a version of a meat alternative. Some are vegan-friendly, like the Beyond Burger, but most are just vegetarian.
Snoop has been developing a strong interest in plant-based meat alternatives for a while. He’s good friends with Rich Roll, a popular vegan Ultraman and Ironman athlete, author, and podcast host. Snoop also got a little nudge from his BFF Martha Stewart on their show “Martha & Snoop’s Potluck Dinner Party,” where they made a vegetarian meal together last year.
Snoop says that he wanted to put two of his favorite things together with this collab. One is plant-based protein. And the other? His love of glazed donuts.
You guessed it – this Snoop Dogg special is a Beyond Breakfast sausage patty with egg and cheese, all stacked inside of a sliced glazed donut. I can feel my arteries clogging as I crave one, and I’m not mad about it.
Snoop is no stranger to food love, either. He has spent significant amounts of time in the kitchen with Martha Stewart over the years, and even has his own cookbook. The recipes in there are solid.
But act fast! The Beyond D-O-Double G Sandwich is only available through Sunday, January 19 at participating locations. Though I truly don’t see why they can’t continue to make the sandwich after this… it’s not like they don’t have donuts!
Here’s the spot Dunkin’ did a few months ago promoting the two working together. In it, Snoop goes into a Dunkin’ and works as an employee for a day. It’s pretty great.
Here’s where this partnership goes off the rails. Dunkin’ isn’t just working with Snoop to promote their Beyond line; the two are actually planning on making a limited-edition clothing line. Yes, we’re still talking about Dunkin’ Donuts.
The line won’t debut until later this month, but it is inspired by the outfit Snoop wore in the ad for his new sandwich, as well as his general style. One piece that I think will be a big seller is a green tracksuit with the words “Glazzzed for Days” written across the back.
Joggers with the words “Glazzzy” down the legs will also be for sale, as well as shirts, a beanie, and a sweatshirt. It’s the perfect spring attire.
