Dwayne Johnson Comes Home

The Rock shared a clip on social media that highlighted his best moments in the WWE. Once dubbed as “the great one” and “The People’s Champion”, the Rock was a huge name in wrestling during the late 1990s and early 2000s.

He caused a huge upset when he left wrestling to pursue other avenues, including acting and comedy. Up until that point, he was considered the biggest crowd draw that WWE had, and one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all time.

He titled his clip with “FINALLY…I come back home … This FRIDAY NIGHT, I’ll return for our debut of SMACKDOWN LIVE”.

“There’s no greater title than #thepeopleschamp.”

The Big ‘Rock’ Show

This is going to be a huge production for WWE, which is set to air on October 4. The Rock may be one of the biggest draws, but he isn’t the only one.

According to multiple sources, other huge names in the wrestling world are set to show up, including Booker T, Hulk Hogan, Trish Stratus, Ric Flair, Goldberg, Lita, Sting, and Kurt Angle.

WWE is not pulling punches for this Friday, which makes the 20th anniversary of the show.

Why WWE Is Going All Out

Let’s be real – the WWE doesn’t need the viewer boost. Showing multiple times a week, professional wrestling regularly gets millions of viewers. While yes, this is an anniversary special, is there another reason that the WWE and Vince McMahon feel the need to pull out the big firepower?

Well, this week marks not just something big for WWE, but for the wrestling world in general. No longer does WWE hold all the professional wrestling cards when it comes to cable. On TNT starting tomorrow, All Elite Wrestling – or AEW – will air a two-hour program once a week showcasing their own wrestling, with wrestlers and storylines completely separate from the WWE world.

This is the first real competition that Vince and the WWE world has seen in a long time, which has clearly put the fear in their hearts. AEW doesn’t have the name recognition that WWE has, but they do have some famous wrestlers signed up, including Chris Jericho who spent time with WCW, WWF, and WWE.
