Two women Accused of Stealing MAGA Hat Now Face Hate Crime Charges; and Biden says Trump ‘lied to the American People’ about COVID-19 Threat.
Two Delaware women have been accused of stealing a MAGA hat outside of the Democratic National Convention. As a result, they may now face up to 15 years in prison. They were indicted Tuesday on charges including felony hate crimes and second-degree robbery.
Camryn Amy and Olivia Winslow, both 21, were indicted by a grand jury on charges of second-degree conspiracy, second-degree robbery, third-degree assault, endangering the welfare of a child, attempted third-degree assault, felony hate crimes, and offensive touching.
Video shows the women snatching a MAGA hat off the ground near a 7-year-old boy while the child’s mother encouraged him to chase after the women to retrieve the hat.
“Get your hat back, baby,” the mother says in the video. She also tells passersby that the women “they attacked my son.” However, the video doesn’t seem to show evidence of this.

Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden says Trump “knowingly and willingly lied” to the nation about how serious the coronavirus was just weeks before the pandemic swept across the United States.
On Twitter, Joe Biden wrote:
“Donald Trump knew. He lied to us for months. And while a deadly disease ripped through our nation, he failed to do his job—on purpose. It was a life or death betrayal of the American people.”
This followed reports that the president intentionally downplayed the virus threat to avoid creating panic despite knowing otherwise.
“He knew how deadly it was. It was much more deadly than the flu. He knew and purposely played it down. Worse, he lied to the American people. He knowingly and willingly lied about the threat it posed to the country for months,” said Biden.
Biden also charged that Trump, “knew how dangerous it was. And while this deadly disease ripped through the nation, he failed to do his job on purpose. It was a life and death betrayal of the American people. It’s beyond despicable, it’s a dereliction of duty. It’s a disgrace.”
Trump reportedly said in a Feb. 7 call, “You just breathe the air and that’s how it’s passed. And so, that’s a very tricky one. That’s a very delicate one. It’s also more deadly than even your strenuous flu. This is deadly stuff.”
Trump also said on March 19, “I wanted to always play it down. I still like playing it down, because I don’t want to create a panic.”
