Breaking up with your first love can feel impossible in the moment. The connection that you forge with the first person you ever loved is so strong, there may be times that you feel like you will shatter when that connecting thread shatters, too.
But we move on. You have to, right?
One man did just that, but before he tied the knot with a new woman, he shared a deeply personal message with his first love. Alexsa screenshotted the message she got from her ex and shared it over Twitter, saying she was absolutely speechless.
The text, which is a long paragraph, goes into great detail about how Alexsa shaped the man that he became. He starts by noting that his fiancé knows he is sending this message, so there is no shady intent behind it.
He then expresses thanks for how well she took care of him and loved him while they were together, and credits her for keeping him out of trouble and on the right path. He says he can “only imagine” how strong her love is now if she loved him so deeply when they were kids.
He ends the message on a pure and kind note: “I wish you love and happiness”.
It’s easy to hold onto bitterness and anger when a breakup happens, but he was able to look past those feelings and really appreciate the growth that he experienced within their relationship.
She helped him grow into the man he became and the husband he will be, and thanking her for that is a beautiful and kind gesture that Alexsa will not soon forget.
