House Democrats are pushing for a second round of stimulus checks that are worth up to $6000 per family. On Tuesday, they rolled out a $3 trillion coronavirus relief package, which is the largest in history.

New Coronavirus Relief Package Means Second Round of Stimulus Checks

The new proposal offers $1,200 to people earning up to $75,000 a year. $2,400 will be given to couples who have no children. This new round would differ from the last one since it will be more generous to families with children. More money will be provided.

It will provide up to $1,200 per dependent. However, only a max of three allowed. The earlier stimulus package gave $500 per child under the age of 17. It is still being distributed. Many Americans are still waiting for their payment. Will you get yours soon?

However, whether this new stimulus package may never see the light of day. Senate Republican leaders are arguing that the emergency funding is not needed since states are starting to reopen. However, reopening could result in more economic issues. This is because it could cause the virus to continue spreading.

If approved, the Democratic bill will extend the unemployment benefits that were included in the March legislation. The last bill has a weekly $600 federal payment through January. However, the new bill would extend this amount through July. $600 can go a long way.

Self-employed, gig workers and independent contractors would continue to have their benefits maintained as well. Instead of expiring at the end of December, they could continue an additional 13 weeks through March.

In the past, those type of workers were denied help.

‘The Heroes Act’ Could Be Established to Help Essential Workers

The legislation would also establish “The Heroes Act”. This would offer a $200 billion bund to provide essential workers with hazard pay. This was not included in the four prior relief packages.

More funding would also be provided for existing efforts supported by Congress in previous legislation. This would translate to nearly $1 trillion to support state, local, tribal and territorial governments. They have faced big budget gaps as tax revenues continue to plummet. Similarly, it would help with the loss of millions of jobs and the shutdowns of non-essential businesses.

In addition, coronavirus testing would benefit from the new bill. This is because it will allow another $75 billion to help with tracing and isolation measures. Americans who fall ill with coronavirus will be given free treatment, as well.

Democratic lawmakers have added a bolster to the nation’s security net. This would be done by increasing the maximum food stamp benefit by 15%. They also want to provide additional funding for nutrition programs for children.

Renters and homeowners would be allocated $175 billion. Additionally, Americans would be offered subsidies to keep health insurance if they lose the insurance provided by their employer.

This would be good news for many Americans. Many have lost their jobs. Others have lost their health care. Others risk losing their small business. A little relief could go a long way.
