The actor clearly didn’t agree with what Ivanka Trump said on Twitter this week, and had no issues with making that clear.
After Ivanka shared a picture of herself with husband Jared Kushner and their children on Twitter, Hamill couldn’t resist his chance to lash out at the President’s daughter and regular visitor to the West Wing.
Ivanka shared a picture of herself in an evening gown, husband Jared in a tux, and one of their children in a Storm Trooper outfit. The couple, who have been married since 2009, have three children, Joseph Fredrick, Theodore James, and Arabella Rose.
She captioned the photo, which shows an attractive but messy living area and all three children, with the statement “The force is strong in my family.” Plus a star emoji for good measure, in case it wasn’t clear what she was referencing.
It appears that their youngest, Theodore, is the one rocking the stormtrooper outfit.
Mark Hamill has done a lot over the years in many forms of media, but he will always be best known for his role as Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars series. He truly seems to love the movies, the lore, and the sci-fi drama behind this mega-franchise.
He retweeted the photograph with the simple sentence “You misspelled “Fraud.” He added the hashtag “Go Force Yourself”. Hamill has been outspoken politically and has used his position of fame in the public eye to share his opinions before.
The tweet has blown up since he shared it, less than 24 hours ago. It was over 80k retweets and 122k likes, with over a thousand comments.
Some people have suggested that Hamill went too far with his comment, as it’s clear the couple were enjoying their time as parents and feel he was attacking a 3-year-old.
Hamill is obviously not attacking the young child, however, but the parents in the picture. Both Ivanka and Jared have been active in the Trump administration since he took office in 2016 and have come under fire repeatedly for their decisions and involvement, despite their experience (or lack thereof) in the political arena.
Hamill has not commented further on his tweet.
