If you’re one of the millions of people suffering from arthritis pain, it can feel overwhelming – and isolating. There are over 100 types of arthritis that you could struggle with, and each person’s pain is a little bit different.
Now, a new study coming out of a university in North Carolina could promise hope for those in pain. And it’s probably something you’ve never thought of before – light therapy.
A study of mice suffering from arthritis showed that light therapy could hold some serious potential when it comes to arthritis treatment and pain management. Light therapy is being used in conjunction with a low level of arthritis medication, and the light ‘activates’ the drug in specific areas of the body, targeting where the pain and inflammation are the worst.
This research was just presented, and will have a long way to go before human trials can get underway, but it could give those suffering from chronic arthritis a glimmer of hope. New treatments are being worked on, and pain relief could be in your future.
