Kanye West Offers Million Dollars for Each Baby During 1st Campaign Rally; Last Week of $6000 Unemployment Benefits Has People Scared.
Kanye West kicked off his first presidential campaign in Charleston, South Carolina, with a bang on Sunday evening. Appearing shortly after 5 pm, the rapper, who wore the numbers “2020” in his hair, made promises that raised more than a few eyebrows.
Kanye broke into tears discussing his father’s desire to abort him while lamenting over his wife having their first child “even when I didn’t want to.”
“I almost killed my daughter. I love my daughter. God wants us to create,” said West. “No more Plan B–Plan A.”
He then clarified that he believes abortion should be legal, but more support should be offered for people who need it.
“The maximum increase would be everybody that has a baby gets a million dollars or something in that range,” said West.
West also said he believes marijuana “should be free.”
Bre Maxwell, a Democratic operative in South Carolina, spoke with ABC News about his concerns over Kanye West running for president:
“He may not even take away from Joe Biden, but I think what Kanye will probably be able to do is ignite a voting bloc that probably wasn’t going to vote for Joe Biden — the young black millennial who doesn’t care about politics or who’s not involved in politics but they are involved with music.
“We need all the votes out of people we can get to support Joe Biden. We’ve got to get rid of Donald Trump and his administration, we’ve got to flip the Senate. We’ve got to keep the House because that’s the only way we’re going to be able to make sure America is great.”
Kanye West is well-known for being a supporter of Donald Trump, though he now claims that he’s done with him.

This is the last week for the $600 unemployment benefits that many Americans are using as a federal lifeline. This has many people concerned.
“These emergency unemployment benefits have been propping up families and propping up the economy now for several months, said Kali Grant, a senior policy analyst at the Georgetown Center on Poverty and Inequality. “Ending the benefits prematurely will really set back any economic recovery that may have been on the way.”
Oregon Sen. Ron Wyden agreed, saying, “the right thing to do for families and the economy is extend supercharged unemployment benefits. They have unquestionably kept the economy afloat.”
However, Senate Republicans are unlikely to extend the full benefit. GOP lawmakers are considering scaling back the benefits by several hundred dollars. Along with creating a bonus for those who go back to work. On the other hand, Democrats wish to continue the benefit into 2021.
Congressional lawmakers are expected to start working on the next economic stimulus package this week. It is still to be determined how this might affect payroll companies.
