Protest Over George Floyd’s Death Turns Deadly; Trump Blasts Columbia as ‘Disgraceful Institution’ and Georgia Teen Dies From Coronavirus.
Recent protests in Minneapolis over the brutal death of George Floyd at the hands of police have become deadly. On Wednesday night, a fatal shooting happened not far from the demonstrators. Multiple fires, widespread looting, and use of tear gas also happened.
Governor Tim Walz called it an “extremely dangerous situation” on Wednesday night. He asked residents to leave the area. Mayor Jacob Frey also had a plea for the residents.
“I’m imploring our city, imploring our community, imploring every one of us to keep the peace. Let’s honor George Floyd’s memory,” said Frey.
One person is in custody for the shooting death. However, the police are still investigating the motive.

Columbia University released a study last week which concluded that 36,000 deaths from COVID-19 were unnecessary. Lockdowns and social distancing starting earlier could have prevented them.
President Trump immediately clapped back – but this time, he didn’t do so through Twitter on his iPhone SE. Instead, he appeared on the show “Full Measure,” where he called Columbia University “a disgraceful institution” after they released their results.
“Columbia is a liberal, disgraceful institution to write that because all the people that they cater to were months after me,” said Trump.
“And I saw that report. It’s a disgrace that Columbia University would do that. Playing right to their little group of people that tell them what to do,” he added.

A 17-year-old teen from Georgia has died, becoming the youngest person in the state to die after contracting the novel coronavirus. The boy reportedly had a pre-existing condition.
Before his death, the youngest known death in the state was a 22-year-old woman from West Virginia. Although the virus is normally less severe in children, a severe inflammatory condition is now believed to be associated with it.
A CDC advisory said that “Healthcare providers who have cared or are caring for patients younger than 21 years of age meeting MIS-C criteria should report suspected cases to their local, state or territorial health department.”
