The KISS tour has been placed on hold after Gene Simmons announced on Twitter this week that he has to fly to LA to undergo a “medical procedure”. Is Gene Simmons dealing with a medical issue we don’t know about?
While Simmons, 70, reassured fans that nothing “serious” was going on, this is the third show that has been postponed on their End of the Road World Tour.
The End of the Road World Tour kicked off in January of this year and is expected to run until the end of 2020. Simmons and the team announced prior to the start that this would be the last tour for the band, who are all aging and looking to retire.
KISS has been around since 1973, and they are responsible for major rock classics like Rock and Roll All Nite, I Was Made For Lovin’ You, and I Love It Loud.
The band is best known for not just their crazy makeup, which has always been their ‘thing’, but their on-stage antics. Performances from KISS include fire breathing, shooting rockets, major pyrotechnics, and even blood-spitting.
Gene Simmons has never been shy, on or off-camera. In 2006 he started a seven-season reality show called Gene Simmons Family Jewels which followed him, his long-time partner and now wife, and their two well-adjusted children. The show aired on A&E Network and received high ratings and viewership.
This is one of the many reasons fans are stumped that Simmons is not more forthcoming as to what is going on in his life. For seven years, he bared all in front of a camera for the sake of ratings – but he won’t explain to fans who spent a lot of money to see their favorite band just why he’s postponing another show?!
Both the Oakland Area and the Staples Center shows have been postponed, originally set for September 16 and September 20. The show in Utah, which was just canceled, should have taken place on September 21.
Simmons celebrated his 70th birthday just weeks previous to this when he spent the afternoon walking around NYC and taking in the sights. KISS originally formed in the city that never sleeps, and it holds an important spot in his heart.
Here’s to hoping nothing serious is going on with this rock legend, and KISS will soon return to touring as scheduled for the rest of the year. Their next stop isn’t until November in Australia, so that should give Simmons plenty of time to rest and recover from whatever medical procedure he’s hiding.
