Family Could Fit Bill After Gender Reveal Party Triggers California Party; and San Francisco Mayor Defends Nancy Pelosi’s Salon Visit, Says She’s Fighting a Dictator.
Bennett Milloy, a spokesperson for California’s Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, said a couple could be held liable after their gender reveal party triggered the El Dorado wildfire. The entire bill is expected to cost millions.
A smoke-generating pyrotechnic device is at fault. This is according to a news release by the agency. The family was still on the scene when firefighters arrived.
“We know how it started because they were still there,” said Milloy. “That, and the fact that there were surveillance cameras in the park.”
Not only could the couple be held liable for the costs, but they might also face a variety of criminal charges. This includes violations of public resources codes and even arson. For example, arson can result in sentences of up to nine years.
“They genuinely believed it was an accident,” said Milloy. “But I think now they understand the gravity of the situation.”

The Mayor of San Francisco, London Breed, has been adamant about enforcing strict coronavirus-related regulations. However, after Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi faced backlash for visiting a salon recently, Breed focused on Trump instead. For example, she called him a “terrorist,” and a “dictator.”
“We have a terrorist. We have a dictator who is running this country. And Nancy Pelosi is at the forefront fighting against this person every day, you know, and I’m not trying to excuse what happened,” said Breed.
“I’m just saying that to allow an issue like this to turn our city upside down when we got folks who are homeless. We’ve got people who can’t open their business, including these salons. I understand.”

When reporters asked Breed about protesters who hung curlers and blow dryers from trees in front of Pelosi’s home, she suggested they “move on.”
“I get that they have these feelings. They are voicing their feelings. But, we are doing the very best we can and I know that’s not good enough for them. I understand,” said Breed. “I get it, but at the end of the day, it is really time for us to move on.”
As for Pelosi, she continues to assert that she’s blameless and that the salon owes her an apology. Pelosi said that what happened was a setup, and that she was invited to a private appointment by the hairstylist in question.
However, not everyone agrees. For example, a GoFundMe set up for the salon owner has reached 128k in donations.
