Elon Musk Wants to Send You to Mars by 2050

By the year 2050, Elon Musk plans to send one million people to Mars in an attempt at colonization. On Twitter, Musk wrote about how he wants to send around 1000 flights a day, which is three Starship flights a day, to pretty much anyone who’d like to make the trip.

The Tweet by Elon Musk read:

“Building 100 Starships/year gets to 1000 in 10 years or 100 megatons/year or maybe around 100k people per Earth-Mars orbital sync,” and that traveling to Mars “needs to be such that anyone can go if they want, with loans available for those who don’t have money.”

He also promised that there would be a lot of jobs available on Mars.

So when is the first flight going to be available? Musk said that he hopes that the “first flight is hopefully two to three months away.”

Hopefully, the starships will do better than some of Musk’s Tesla models lately, or else you might want to keep the numbers of a few accident lawyers handy!

Two 9/11 Firefighters Die on Same Day, 20 Years Later

Two FDNY firefighters recently died on the same day, nearly 20 years after they worked at Ground Zero after the 9/11 terror attack.

On Friday, Firefighters Paul Deo Jr., 74 and Richard Jones, 63, both died from unspecified illnesses. Deo had a lung transplant just last year and was diagnosed in 2016 with pulmonary fibrosis.

In a statement, Commissioner Daniel Nigro said, “Nearly two decades later, our FDNY family continues to lose remarkable men and women who never wavered in their commitment to protecting life and property in our city. Our department will never forget them or the bravery they exuded throughout their careers.”

Later this week World Trade Center funerals will be held for the two men at Saint Joseph’s Church in Manhattan.

Nervous Cheetah Gets an Emotional Support Dog of Her Own

A nervous little cheetah named Nandi was given a gift from the staff at Turtle Back Zoo in West Orange, New Jersey–her very own emotional support dog!

Nandi was introduced to Bow, a golden labrador x golden retriever when she was young, and the two have been the best of friends ever since. The duo has become a big zoo attraction.

“Bowie has a very important job here, which is to be, kind of, her confidence builder,” said Charlotte Trapman-O’Brien, who works at Turtle Back Zoo.

“So cheetahs are naturally skittish by nature, so one of the things that allow us to bring her out and do educational presentations like this is having Bowie by her side.”

Bowie’s trainer, Samantha Wegman, said that Bowie has the same training as any other therapy dog and that he knows how to look out for signs of distress.

Wegman said, “No matter what else is going on, if something startles her, she needs to look to him, and he needs to be calm. So he’s been exposed to a lot of different environments.”
