Cop Who Knelt on Floyd Almost Killed Another Black Man in 2008; Elon Musk Changes His Baby’s Name in Compliance With State Law; and Two Brothers Find Gold Bars Worth More than $85,000 After Building a Fort.
The cop who killed George Floyd by kneeling on his neck has a long history of use-by-force incidents. News of those incidents, including how he almost killed another black man in 2008, has resurfaced in the wake of Floyd’s death.
Ira Latrell Toles came forward to tell his story of how Officer Derek Chauvin barged into his home and shot him twice after beating him up in 2008. The officer was responding to a domestic violence call.
After watching the video of Floyd being knelt on, Toles texted his sister on Tuesday night.
“The officer that killed that guy might be the one that shot me. They said his last name and I think it was him,” wrote Toles.
His sister immediately replied, “It’s him.”
Toles says that what happened to Floyd could have been avoided if Chauvin was properly punished for his behavior during the domestic violence call more than a decade ago.
He told the Daily Beast, “If he was reprimanded when he shot me, George Floyd would still be alive.”
Toles is now looking into filing a lawsuit against the department over the 2008 incident.

Elon Musk and his partner Grimes made headlines after their baby was born. And why? Because they chose a decidedly unconventional name, naming the baby X Æ A-12.
However, the name doesn’t comply with California law. This is because people are not allowed to have Indo-Arabic numbers in their names.
Musk and Grimes decided to change their baby’s name as a result, to… X Æ A-Xii.
Grimes explained the reason they named their child as such on social media:
“A-12 = precursor to SR-17 (our favorite aircraft). No weapons, no defenses, just speed. Great in battle, but non-violent. (A=Archangel, my favorite song).”
Musk also took time to explain the name when he made an appearance on The Josh Rogan Experience:
“First of all, my partner is the one who, mostly, actually came up with the name. I mean it’s just X, the letter X. And then the Æ is, like, pronounced ‘ash’… yeah… and then A-12 is my contribution.”

While trying to pass the time while on lockdown, two brothers, who are aged around 10, decided to build a fort. It’s a good thing they did, considering that it led to the discovery of gold bars worth a whopping $85,000.
The boys found the gold bars because they dug out old sheets that belonged to their late grandmother that were located in a spare room in their home.
When they pulled out the sheets, ‘two fairly heavy objects’ fell out. At first the boys didn’t pay much attention to them and put them back.
After they later informed their father about what happened, he asked them to go back and get them. The boy’s dad discovered that the gold bars were worth quite a bit of money, and they were placed on the Rouillac Auctioneers website.
While many people might use this kind of windfall toward credit repair, the boys have something different in mind. If the gold bars sell, they have asked their father to buy them a pool.
