Amazon drivers have had a hard time lately in the news, but it seems that despite Amazon’s best efforts to keep this under control, it just gets worse. In Texas, one Amazon driver has been fired and arrested after allegedly stealing a dog from a home and attempting to sell it online.
Hide your wife, hide your kids, hide your… dogs?
The arrested is Mycah Keyona Wade, a 22-year-old who worked for Amazon as a contract driver in Texas at the time of her firing. While it isn’t certain, it appears that Wade had listed the dog for sale on Craigslist for only $100. When the dog didn’t sell, she dropped the price to just $70. Once the police contacted her about a warrant for her arrest, she took the listing down.
Amazon made a statement that Wade does not “reflect the high standards” that they have for delivery partners.
“RJ” lived in Texas with his parents at the time of his dognapping. He is a purebred dachshund and is only 2 years old. When his owners opened the door to go grocery shopping, RJ darted across the front yard. Wade picked up RJ from the street.
After a warrant was issued for Wade’s arrest, she turned herself in – though she denied taking RJ. After police confronted her with security camera footage from a neighbor and testimony from landscapers working in the area, she admitted to the crime and gave the dog back.
RJ is now back with his parents, and Amazon has reportedly contacted the couple to “make it right.”
