See It: Bird Hits Girl in Face While on Roller Coaster at 70 MPH

If you’re getting on a roller coaster this summer, keep in mind that you are in nature – and nature will do whatever it wants to you. One young girl in Australia discovered this first hand when an ibis flew at her face while she was going 70 MPH on a HyperCoaster.

The girl is reportedly fine, but the condition of the bird remains unknown.

On the Golden Coast

The rider, identified as Paigem was on the DC Rivals coaster at the Warner Bros. Movie World in Queensland, Australia this weekend when the incident happened. DC Rivals is considered a ‘HyperCoaster’ and Warner Bros advertises it as the “tallest, longest, and fastest HyperCoaster in the Southern Hemisphere”.

Even before the bird slams into her, Paige looks terrified, mouthing obscenities and holding tightly to the safety bars. The bird bounces off the girl’s face and shoulders, and her uncle is seen laughing in the video footage at her shock.

Paige is Fine

Paige suffered a scratch from the bird’s beak on her shoulder and had a few feathers in her shirt for a very unique souvenir, but otherwise is uninjured. The entire incident was caught on camera from the ride’s ‘fast video’ feature, which has a camera installed to capture riders reactions throughout the whole trip.

Her mother shared the story over Facebook, which has gotten thousands of views and shares. This is one ride Paige isn’t soon to forget.
