Mike Bloomberg Commits $100 Million to Help Biden in Florida; and There Will Be No Halloween or Christmas Peeps this Year.
In an attempt to help Joe Biden win Florida, former New York Mayor Mike Bloomberg is committing to spend $100 million. The money “will be used to turn out voters for Joe Biden in Florida” through a mix of digital and television ads. Both in English and Spanish, according to a spokeswoman. The key focus will be on Hispanic voters.
The spokeswoman said the overall goal is to help free up money from Biden’s campaign. As a result, they can spend money in other key states, such as Pennsylvania. In other words, even the best airline travel deals aren’t going to help them save enough money.
Another goal is to force President Trump’s campaign to spend heavily in Florida. This will leave the campaign with less money to spend elsewhere.
“Mike Bloomberg is committed to helping defeat Trump and that is going to happen in the battleground states,” said senior adviser and former campaign manager for Bloomberg, Kevin Sheekey.
“Mike’s substantial investment in Florida, in addition to his contributions to the DNC and to voter protection and restoration efforts this cycle, will mean Democrats and the Biden campaign can invest more heavily in other key states like Pennsylvania, which will be critical to a Biden victory.”

Sorry, Peeps fans. The company that produces peeps, Just Born Quality Confections, says that they will not produce their holiday-themed marshmallow treats this year. Not for Halloween, and not for Christmas. Even Valentine’s Day peeps won’t make the cut, although holiday-themed peeps are expected to return to stores sometime in 2021.
The reason the company is halting production on the holiday peeps is out of concern for their employee’s safety.
“This situation resulted in us having to make the difficult decision to forego production of our seasonal candies for Halloween, Christmas and Valentine’s Day in order to focus on meeting the expected overwhelming demand for Peeps for next Easter season, as well as our everyday candies,” the company said in a statement.
The halt in production will also affect other seasonal varieties that the company offers, including Mike and Ike fruit candies and Hot Tamales. The company initially halted production of its candy brands in April, but resumed limited production in May.
