Nerdy is the new cool. At least that’s what $3 million and an esports trophy says. The 16-year-old video game guru, Kyle “Bugha” Giersdorf took home the Fortnite World Cup Solos title and a load of cash during the weekend.

Record-Breaking Cash Prize

The Fortnite World Cup rewarded players with $30 million overall at Auther Ashe Stadium in New York. Giersdorf’s $3 million cash prize was more than any tennis player won this summer during Wimbledon.

“All I Want is a New Desk”

While being interviewed, Giersdorf said that he plans on saving most of his prize money but also wants “a new desk and maybe a desk for my trophy.”

Fortnite is one of the most popular multiplayer online shooters with 250 million players all over the globe. A total of 40 million players competed in order to qualify for the weekend tournament in which “Bugha” Giersdorf was the last one standing to hoist the trophy.
