The Trump administration is exploring what actions they can take against the “American Hero” who stepped forth to testify against Trump during the impeachment hearing.
After Alexander Vindman testified against Trump during the impeachment hearing, the White House is exploring options to remove him.
Vindman is a Ukraine expert and the Director of European Affairs on the National Security Council. He raised concerns over what he viewed as Trump’s inappropriate demands for a Ukrainian investigation of former Vice President Joe Biden.
“Without hesitation, I knew that I had to report this to the White House counsel,” said Vindman last November during the impeachment hearing.
After Vindman made his appearance, Trump took to Twitter, calling him “a low-level partisan bureaucrat and nothing more.”
Jennifer Jacobs, a Bloomberg News reporter posted the following on Twitter:
“BREAKING: White House is weighing plan to dismiss Alexander Vindman from National Security Council after he testified in [the] impeachment inquiry, a move that will be part of a broader effort to shrink Trump admin foreign policy bureaucracy, sources tell me & @nwadhams. Story out soon.”

According to Bloomberg, removing Vindman could trigger objections from both Republicans and Democrats. They are concerned that the Trump administration will continue acting against other government officials in retaliation.
Reports say that Vindman hasn’t been told of any change in his status. He still plans to show up for work until told otherwise. His twin, Yevgeny Vindman, who also works at the National Security Council hasn’t been told of any changes in his own status either.
Trump is known for demanding absolute loyalty from his top aides. He has already dismissed many officials for making critical comments about him. He is now taking things a step further by taking aim at lower-ranking officials who speak up against him.
