When it comes to Meghan Markle, Wendy Williams certainly shows no sympathy. Meghan got emotional during candid interviews for the new documentary, airing today for US viewers, called Harry & Meghan: An African Journey.
But Williams is having none of it from Meghan and pulled no punches on her show this week talking about the documentary, and Meghan’s struggles with her new royal status.
Meghan and Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex and second son of Charles, Prince of Wales and Diana, Princess of Wales, married last May, giving Meghan the title of Dutchess of Sussex. The two had their first child, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, in May of this year.
We’ve known all along that Meghan doesn’t fit the role of a typical royal. She’s of mixed race, which is a big deal to those pasty Brits (no offense, but you know who you are), and she’s divorced, also a big no-no.
But Harry, sixth in the line of succession to the throne, fell in love with her anyway and the two defied a lot of odds by marrying. But it seems that Meghan didn’t really understand what she was getting into when she said yes to the royal life.
In an interview for the couple’s upcoming documentary, Meghan sais that “it’s hard,” being in the spotlight all the time and dealing with British tabloids, which are notoriously aggressive. “…not many people have asked if I’m OK, but it’s a very real thing to be going through behind the scenes.” She confessed with tears in her eyes.
Whether Wendy Williams is jealous of Meghan’s new royal status or she truly believes the dutchess is lying doesn’t really matter, because she went on her show yesterday to rip into Meghan’s heartfelt conversations.
In an interview for the upcoming documentary, Meghan says that a British friend warned her not to get involved with and marry Harry, because the tabloids would rip her apart, but she didn’t “understand” what that meant because she had never been famous enough to be front-page news.
“Like, you meet a prince, and your friend is going to tell you not to marry? … Meghan’s lying to try and get sympathy.” Williams said.
“You knew exactly what you were doing … please don’t try to garner sympathy from us.” Harsh.
“There’s something about her,” she continued. “You know what I’m saying? …[The paparazzi] weren’t following you when you were on Suits. We didn’t even know who you were. Except when you came for employment here at Wendy and wanted to be one of our runway models.”
Wendy Williams ended her rant against Meghan with a biting final statement. “Meghan Markle, nobody feels sorry for you. You knew what you were signing up for, girl!”
