Almost 43,000 pounds of ground beef are being recalled, which includes packages sold at Walmart stores. This is thanks to a possible E. coli contamination.
A possible E. coli contamination has caused a recall of nearly 43,000 pounds of ground beef. This includes packages sold at Walmart grocery stores. The Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service announced the recall late Saturday.
The recall includes select packages of ground beef produced on June 1. The products were sold under many brand names, including Marketside Butcher and Thomas Farms. Experts suspect the meat contamination stems from Escherichia coli O157-H7.
The meat has an establishment number “EST. 46841” inside the USDA mark of inspection. This is according to the recall notice. The ground beef products ended up in retail locations nationwide, which includes the Marketside Butcher brand, sold at Walmart.
As a result, the USDA classified the recall as a “Class I.” This defines it as a “health hazard situation where there is a reasonable probability that the use of the product will cause serious, adverse health consequences or death.”
Routine testing highlighted the problem. However, there have been no confirmed reports of “adverse reactions due to consumption of these products.”
