‘The president of the United States is not a civilian’

The governor of New Jersey imposed a new order that requires visitors to quarantine for 14 days. This applies to people who have been in states with high numbers of coronavirus cases. Trump falls under this category thanks to his recent visit to Arizona.

However, the White House says that the order cannot apply to Trump because he is not a civilian.

“The president of the United States is not a civilian,” said Judd Deere, a White House spokesman. Trump recently visited Arizona, a state that has seen a rise in the rate of its coronavirus cases.

“Anyone who is in close proximity to him, including staff, guests, and press are tested for COVID-19 and confirmed to be negative,” said Deere in a statement.

“With regard to Arizona, the White House followed its COVID mitigation plan to ensure the president did not come into contact with anyone who was symptomatic or had not been tested,” added the spokesman.

“Anyone traveling in support of the president this weekend will be closely monitored for symptoms and tested for COVID and therefore pose little to no risk to the local populations.”

Trump Plans to Visit Golf Club in New Jersey Despite New Orders

During his New Jersey visit, Trump is expected to travel this weekend to his golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey. Typically, he flies on Air Force One to airports in Morristown and Newark.

On Wednesday, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo and New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy both announced visitor quarantine requirements. Visitors caught disobeying the order could face fines.

“This is the smart thing to do. We have taken our people … through hell and back,” said Murphy during a conference call. However, a spokesman for Murphy declined to comment on Trump’s visit.

“We worked very hard to get the viral transmission rate down. We don’t want to see it go up because a lot of people come into this region and they can literally bring the infection with them,” said Cuomo during that same call.

“Because what happens in New York happens in New Jersey and happens in Connecticut,” Cuomo added.

The coronavirus has caused people to get creative with their healthcare. Some have turned to cloud services treatment while others are taking more vitamins and staying home.
