Everyone can relate to getting Halloween candy they don’t want – and now – Reese’s has a remedy for that. Hershey’s has unveiled a “candy swap” machine that lets you trade in your unwanted candy for Reese’s.
Who won’t forget going through their Halloween candy the morning after and being disappointed (though not ungrateful) at what they received. After all, all of us have different taste buds. I’m sure all of us have wished that we could have exchanged some of our Halloween candy gifts for others that we prefer.
Hershey’s (the parent company of Reese’s) actually commissioned a survey and found that 90% of Americans say they have traded, or wish they could have traded, their unwanted Halloween candy, according to a company spokesperson who spoke to CNN.
According to a Hershey spokesperson, over half of all candy buyers purchase Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, and it’s the number one most-purchased Halloween candy.
Knowing that so many people want to trade in their candy, and that Reese’s are a favorite – the Hershey Company decided to do something about it. The result was their creation of a machine that would allow people to trade in their unwanted candy for Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups.
Hershey’ chose New York as the place to unveil their newly created exchange machine called “Reese’s Halloween Candy Converter Machine.” The machine made its public debut on Sunday, October 28, during a Halloween parade in Tarrytown, New York.
But here’s the bad news…
Unfortunately, Hershey’s has only rolled out one of these candy-trading machines this year – and New York is the only place that has one.
Let’s hope this idea catches on and it comes to a town near you!
