The mayor of Miami Beach is calling for a ban on Spring Break after two men were shot dead, crowds brawled in the streets, and shops were trashed despite a 12 AM curfew, the Daily Mail reported. “We don’t ask for spring break in our city,” said Miami Beach Mayor Dan Gelber.
One of the shootings was done execution-style and was captured on video, occurring as tourists were milling Ocean Drive around 3:30 AM on Sunday, sending people scrambling, the New York Post reported.
Police arrested the shooter, identified as 24-year-old Dontavious Leonard Polk from Fort Lauderdale. The victim was identified as 21-year-old Georgia college student Jordan Idahosa.

Rick Allen, 59, the one-armed drummer for rock band Def Leppard, is reportedly recovering after being attacked outside the Four Seasons Hotel in Florida on Monday night as he was smoking a cigarette. The suspect was identified as 19-year-old Max Edward Hartley, who also allegedly attacked a woman who ran out of the hotel to help Allen, Fox 11 News reported. Hartley was later arrested at another nearby hotel where he was breaking car windows. He was charged with two counts of battery, four counts of criminal mischief, and abusing an elderly or disabled adult.
