Spotify Helps Lonely Pets With Music; Astronauts Look to Grow Mushroom Homes on Mars; Your Waist Might Just Save You from a Heart Attack and Two Men Make a Giant Earth Sandwich.
Do you ever feel guilty about leaving your pet home alone? We have good news! Spotify is starting a new podcast, along with a range of playlists that are specifically created to help calm lonely pets.
The podcast and playlists have been “algorithmically curated” by animal experts to “help alleviate stress.” The podcast features relaxing music, reassuring human voices and ambient sounds that runs in two five-hour stretches.
However, the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, though they support Spotify’s podcast, warned that nothing could “ever replace the company and presence of a dog’s owner.”

There has always been talk of humans relocating to another planet in case things went awry on Earth, but did you ever imagine that humans might live inside of mushrooms?
NASA is now working on a new Innovative Advanced Concepts program that will focus on myco-architecture, which will allow for organic habitats to be grown from fungi and mycelia.
Lynn Rothschild, the principal investigator for the project says, “Right now, traditional habitat designs for Mars are like a turtle—carrying our homes with us on our backs. A reliable plan, but with huge energy costs. Instead, we can harness mycelia to grow these habitats ourselves when we get there.”

If you’re a heart attack survivor, one of the best things you can do to prevent another heart attack is to start keeping an eye on your waist size. This is especially true for men.
Dr. Hanieh Mohammadi of the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm said in a news release, “Abdominal obesity not only increases your risk for a first heart attack or stroke, but also the risk for recurrent events after the first misfortune.”
“Maintaining a healthy waist circumference is important for preventing future heart attacks and strokes regardless of how many drugs you may be taking or how healthy your blood tests are.”

Etienne Naude from Auckland, New Zealand had a grand idea! He wanted to make a giant Earth sandwich, but needed someone else who was literally on the other side of the planet, in the exact right place, in order to make it happen.
Finally, he was able to find a new Spanish pal on Reddit who was willing to help him in this important matter, and they went to work to make sure that the bread slices were properly placed.
In an interview with the BBC, Naude said, “It was quite hard to organize since it’s a 12-hour time difference. And there’s lots of things to arrange, such as the kind of bread, the time, the [precise] location, et cetera.”
When the pair of men completed their mission, that involved placing the same kind of bread to face the same way, at the same time, on exact opposite points of the globe, they made sure to post their glorious deed on Reddit, where the entire event first started to rise.
