After living for just 10 days, Snoop Dogg’s grandson, Kai, passed away in his father’s arms.

Snoop’s son, Corde Broadus, shared the news on his Instagram page this past weekend, and while Snoop himself has yet to comment, he shared a video almost immediately after the news broke saying that you should “trust God”.

Snoop Dogg’s Oldest Child

Corde Broadus, 25, is Snoop Dogg’s oldest child with his wife of 22 years, Shante Broadus. The couple has two other children, Cori and Cordell. Snoop also has one other child with another woman, Julian Broadus, though paternity and details around his birth are questionable.

Corde has one other child, a 13-month-old daughter named Eleven, with his partner Soraya Love. This would have made the children nearly ‘Irish Twins’, or two babies born within the same 12-month period.

Sharing The News

The grieving father shared the news first on his Instagram page, with pictures of Eleven’s first birthday, that they had celebrated only weeks before Kai’s arrival. The pictures show a happy baby, a glowingly-pregnant Soraya, and a beautiful, loving family.

In the message, Corde shares that Kai passed in his arms and that energy will “never leave” him. He and Soraya are grieving but thankful for their time with Kai, and he says they both are at peace with the tragic situation.

He ends the message with “Now let’s get back to our soul purpose – Kai Love”.

The Family Reacts

Snoop, who is no stranger to spirituality and has released a gospel album recently, shared on his social media a video that was all about ‘Trusting God’. He has not directly commented about the situation otherwise.

His wife, Shante, went on Instagram to express her grief, filming and sharing a video of her singing “The Love We Had Stays on My Mind”, a hit from the ‘70s by The Dells. “To My Fifth G Baby” she captioned it, with two broken heart emojis.

Cordell popped into his mother’s Instagram to show support for her struggle, saying, “Love you momma”. Shante also shared a video of her dancing to “Lead Me Into Love” by Anita Baker, saying that it was “the only person that could” get her through “this mood”.

Reasons for Kai’s passing has yet to be released.
