Federal Unemployment to Be Cut Off for Rioters

Republican Indiana Rep. Jim Banks introduced a new House bill last week. If passed, it will cut unemployment benefits for rioters convicted of violent looting and vandalism. The bill, called The Support Peaceful Protest Act, will also require those convicted to provide restitution for any costs involving federal policing.

Banks explained the bill in an Aug. 18 press release:

“Antifa thugs are descending on suffering communities, disrupting peaceful protests and leaving violence, looting and vandalism in their wake. They turned Milwaukee, Seattle and Portland into war zones, and now they’re moving the chaos to Kenosha, Wisconsin.

“Who knows which community is next? Due to enhanced federal benefits, taxpayers are giving wages to jobless rioters that are destroying our communities. We need to cut them off from their funding and make them feel the full financial consequences of their actions.”

However, some claim that police have incited the protesters. For example, they say that the police have been using excessive force when it isn’t necessary.

94% of Coronavirus Deaths Had This in Common

New data released by The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shows that many Americans who died from COVID-19 seem to have one thing in common. At least, 94% of them.

According to the report, 94% of patients who died from COVID-19 also had other “health conditions and contributing causes.”

The report read:

“Table 3 shows the types of health conditions and contributing causes mentioned in conjunction with deaths involving coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). For 6% of the deaths, COVID-19 was the only cause mentioned. For deaths with conditions or causes in addition to COVID-19, on average, there were 2.6 additional conditions or causes per death.”

Some of the top conditions contributing to death include: Influenza and pneumonia, respiratory failure, and hypertensive disease. It is worth noting that COVID-19 can cause some of these conditions to develop. It is unsure whether or not things like taking arthritis medication may be playing a role.

However, the CDC says their data is based on provisional death counts based on death certificates. Similarly, they said the provisional death counts may not match counts from other sources, such as from county health departments.

In addition, the CDC said that provisional data is not yet complete, that provisional counts are not final, death counts should not be compared across states, and that the information is subject to change.
