White House Press Secretary Blasted as a ‘Karen’ by Chicago Mayor

Lori Lightfoot, the Mayor of Chicago, blasted the White House Press Secretary, Kayleigh McEnany. She did so on Thursday, using Twitter. This happened after she was mentioned as a “derelict mayor” during a press briefing.

White House correspondent for Time Magazine Brian Bennett spoke of the slight on his Twitter account.

“White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany just called Lori Lightfoot ‘the derelict mayor of Chicago’ and said she should request federal help to secure the city.”

As a result, Lightfoot followed up with her own Tweet regarding the matter. She wrote, “Hey, Karen. Watch your mouth.”

The term “Karen” has gained distinction as a way to describe demanding, middle-aged white women with a sense of entitlement. However, people whose real name is Karen are less than thrilled about its recent popularity.

“Chuck’s son is fine and asymptomatic,” said Mark Young to CNN. Woolery recently made news when he was retweeted by President Donald Trump. The President is famous for using his cellular phone to very, very often post on Twitter.

“The most outrageous lies are the ones about Covid 19. Everyone is lying,” said Woolery in that tweet. He continued, “The CDC. Media. Democrats. Our Doctors. Not all, but most, that we are told to trust. I think it’s all about the election and keeping the economy from coming back, which is about the election. I’m sick of it.”

As a result, Woolery said it was “an honor to have your president retweet what your thoughts are and think it’s important enough to do that.”

However, Woolery deactivated his Twitter account on Wednesday after backtracking on his prior comments. This was after he learned his son had contracted the deadly virus. In this situation, many others might do the same.

Consequently, he wrote, “Covid-19 is real and it is here. My son tested positive for the virus and I feel for those suffering and especially for those who have lost loved ones.”

Young says that Woolery’s Twitter account “is not gone,” however. “He is just taking a break from the abuse he has received from thousands of intolerant people who purposefully mislead people on his statement. Including the media.”
