July 4 downer: First the weather, now super-high gas prices

Depending on where you live, the weather forecast calls for conditions that are either going to be too hot or too wet, putting a damper on outdoor activities for the fourth of July holiday weekend.

But worse than that, if you were planning on going anywhere for the holiday, expect to pay big time at the pump. Gas prices have reached their highest levels since the beginning of the year.

As of July 1, 2021, the national average for unleaded regular gasoline was $3.123 per gallon, according to the AAA Gas Prices website.

And just like the weather, how much misery you feel will depend on where you live.

Not surprisingly, California has the highest gas prices at $4.284. Other states with the highest prices, ranging from $4.284 to $3.368 are Hawaii, Alaska, Nevada, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Utah, Colorado, and Illinois.

States with the lowest gas prices, ranging from $2.912 to $2.749 are Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, South Carolina, and North Carolina.

Potential gasoline outages for July 4

Temporary delivery issues and 12-48 hour outages have already been reported in parts of central Iowa, south-central Ohio, the Florida Keys, Colorado, Washington and Oregon due to an ongoing tanker driver shortage, NBC reported.

Britney Spears’ request to remove father as conservator denied by judge

Britney Spears has lost her battle to remove her father from the role of conservator of her estate, despite widespread celebrity and public support, as well as an impassioned plea to the court.

The ruling by Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Brenda Penny came not in a hearing, but on a request made by Spears attorney in November to add Bessemer Trust to serve as co-conservator alongside the singer’s father, CNN reported.

“The conservator’s request to suspend James P. Spears immediately upon the appointment of Bessemer Trust Company of California as sole conservator of estate is denied without prejudice,” the court filing state, Fox reported.
