Virtual Reality Helps Mother Reunite With Her Deceased Child; Woman’s Rare Condition Causes Hair to Grow From Her Gums, and Cheeky Baboon Places Online Orders Using Zookeeper’s Phone.
Warning—the video below is very hard to watch.
Jang Ji-sung lost her daughter, Nayeon, when she was only seven years old to a rare and incurable disease in 2016.
Thanks to VR technology, she was able to reunite with a “living” representation of her daughter. You can see her grieving in the YouTube video that captured the powerful moment.
In what had to be a very difficult decision, Jang decided to allow designers to use her daughter’s likeness in their VR technology. The production team spent eight months creating the work.
After meeting the VR version of her daughter, Jang said, “Maybe it’s a real paradise. I met Nayeon, who called me with a smile, for a very short time, but it’s a very happy time. I think I’ve had the dream I’ve always wanted.
“Three years later, I now think I should love her more than miss her and feel sick so that I can be confident when I meet her later,” said Jang in a blog posting. “I hope many people will remember Nayeon after watching the show.”

A 25-year-old woman’s gums started growing hair, and her extremely rare condition has now been publicized in the medical journal Oral Surgery, Oral Medicine, Oral Pathology and Oral Radiology.
The report describes that “extraoral facial examination revealed the presence of exuberant hair on the chin and neck regions.”
“Intraoral examination showed some brown hair, similar to eyelashes, which were removed and the underlying tissue histologically analysed,” read the report.
“One year later, the patient came back with even more widespread presence of oral hairs distributed on the gingivae of both arches.”
In conclusion, the report stated, “The occurrence of hairs in the oral cavity is an extremely rare finding. The etiology is still unknown; however, an investigation of the systemic health is always desirable because more complex medical conditions may be present and not recognized.”

You’d think a zookeeper would know better than to lose her phone around a bunch of monkeys. But after what happened here, I’d wager she won’t make this same mistake twice.
Lv Mengmeng had raised the baboon in question since it was a tiny babe at Yancheng Wild Animal World in east China. Mengmeng said she left the enclosure to grab some food for the hungry monkey.
When she returned, she noticed she had several confirmation notifications on her phone for online orders.
“I thought someone had pranked me. I had no idea what had happened, but then I checked CCTV footage which showed the baboon using my phone and tapping on the screen.”
She could have cancelled the orders, but she decided to keep the items as a lesson learned.
