Men Don’t Mature Til They’re 40 Says Study, Women Reply ‘We Know’

Women often remark that men can be seriously immature, even well into adulthood. Some even believe that it’s women who actually lend their maturity to many adult relationships. But how true is it, really?

As it turns out, there is scientific proof that women are superior to men, at least in terms of maturity.

The University of Oxford conducted a study on the matter. And the results will likely come as a surprise to no one.

Understanding the Study

The maturation of a human brain, the authors explain, is distinguished by “prolonged development of structural and functional properties of large-scale networks.”

Through their research, the scientists discovered what features these networks exhibited as people aged.

To do this, they examined the brains of 121 people ranging from age 4 to 40 using brain imaging. While taking age and gender into consideration, they also tracked changes in how their brains functioned.

Why Women Mature Earlier than Men

As it turned out, men and women both develop the same capabilities necessary to tackle day-to-day life. However, in men, the prolonged development of, specifically, functional networks suffered a delay when compared to women.

However, women’s functional networks tend to show more premature deterioration.

That said, additional data has proven that women’s brains are more efficient. They display more neural connections and exhibit better memory function. Plus, women’s brains also better perceive colors and flavors.
