A copy of Mary Trump’s upcoming book, “Too Much and Never Enough”, has leaked ahead of release. A copy was obtained by CNN, who report that the book is a scathing criticism of the president. Mary Trump is the niece of president Donald Trump, and the president alleges that she was bound by a non-disclosure agreement to not discuss family matters publicly.
According to CNN, the book alleges that Donald Trump is a “sociopath,” and that his administration threatens the US. The book includes allegations that Donald’s father, Fred Trump, created a “toxic” family environment. As a result of this environment, Mary claims, Donald developed troubling personality traits under his father’s worrying parenting style.
Mary Trump’s father, Fred Trump Jr., died after years of struggling with alcoholism. In the book, Mary alleges that her father’s problems stemmed from his relationship with his own father, the senior Fred Trump. Likewise, Mary alleges, Donald has similar complexes, though he maintains that he’s never touched a drop of alcohol.
“Donald, following the lead of my grandfather and with the complicity, silence and inaction of his siblings, destroyed my father. I can’t let him destroy my country,” Mary writes in the book. The book contains Mary’s memories, as well as snippets of details from her own conversations with family recently. Other sections still are based on Mary’s research into legal and financial documents.
The book paints a picture of a family obsessed with materials things: SUV cars, fancy watches and suits. However, Mary’s description suggests a family that was more worried about material goods than the mental well-being of its members. She describes Fred Trump Sr. as “toxic,” and goes into detail about the ways his actions warped his sons.
The Trump administration unsuccessfully sued to stop the book’s publishing. The suit alleged said Mary was under an NDA that said she could not speak publicly about Trump family matters. However, they could not stop the book, which is close to releasing. The administration has issued no public statement regarding Mary’s book.
The book comes as the president is stumbling in the polls. In nationwide polls, Trump is trailing former vice president Joe Biden by an average of 11 points. Additionally, Trump is now struggling in swing states, with Biden surging ahead of him in the polls. Historically speaking, the incumbent’s numbers are worrying.
