Manhunt Underway For Suspect, 10-Year-Old Shot in Memphis

A ten-year-old boy has been fatally shot in Memphis, Tennessee, according to police. Memphis authorities are now searching for the suspect, who is believed to have fired the fatal shots at some point Sunday evening.

Police stated, in a series of tweets, that they responded to reports of shots fired late Sunday evening. The officers rushed to the Orange Mound neighborhood in southeast Memphis, finding the victim and rushing him to nearby Le Bonheur Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Police have stated that the suspect was last seen driving white Nissan Altima or Infiniti with a black front bumper.

Homicide Investigation Ongoing

It is unclear why the suspect opened fire, who his intended target was, and whether the ten-year-old victim was simply caught in the crossfire or the intended victim. Police have stated that they have currently found no motive in the shooting.

After being rushed to the hospital, the young boy did not survive his injuries. Memphis police confirmed this via their official Twitter account on Monday morning. The investigation is still ongoing, and police are looking for anyone with tips to help them solve the case.
