Described as “an engineering moon shot,” the eighth generation of the legendary Classic Chevrolet Corvette has been radically redesigned to boost performance as well as other changes that make the 2020 Stingray profoundly different than its predecessors.
The revved-up new Corvette will feature a long-awaited mid-engine design, housing a 6.2L V8 that boasts the “fastest 0-60 time of any entry Corvette ever” that is capable of 495 HP, according to Chevrolet.
But these sweeping design changes go beyond what’s under the hood. The 2020 Stingray is also radically modernistic on the inside. Chevrolet says its reinvented Corvette will have a “driver-centric cockpit,” and also, for the first time, a fully digital instrument cluster.
For those who love to grab the gearshift, there may be one disappointment… In another rethink design change, the 2020 Corvette will have no manual transmission – it’s not even an option.
Chevrolet is promising that the price tag for the entry-level model will be under $60,000.
