Have you ever gotten into an argument with your child or spouse at the grocery store about what kind of ice cream you should buy? Maybe you want Rocky Road and they want Double Chocolate Chip, or you’re really craving Mint Chip, but the kids will only eat Strawberry!
LG thinks that they have a solution for you. Revealed at SXSW last year, this device is just now blowing up over the internet as people realize just how great it could be.
Can you imagine popping a pod in, pushing a button, and getting the perfect portion of ice cream you’re craving? Well, that could be your reality soon.
Called the Snow White, this nifty little device was introduced by LG as a showcase of what type of technology they want to bring to people’s homes in the future.
The Snow White is set up just like a Keurig. You choose the pod you want, pop it into the machine, and hit a button. Give it some time to create your product, and smooth ice cream will fall into a cup or cone below.
The really interesting thing that LG announced is that the Snow White isn’t just for ice cream. During development they had an assortment of pods that they were looking to create, and while some were traditional ice cream flavors, others were not.
Gelato, sherbert, and even frozen yogurt are all potential pod options. If one person in your family only eats orange sherbert, no longer would you have to keep your freezer full of it for weekend nights. Because let’s be honest, there is a small demographic of people that will eat that.
Here’s the bummer – LG says that this is only a prototype, and isn’t actually available for purchase yet.
Their set up at SXSW was more about showcasing the future of their products than having actual machines ready to go. But LG is making leaps and bounds in the world of technology, so their research and development department – combined with pressure from the internet and how much we all really want an ice cream Keurig – could mean we will see it on the shelves soon.
No word on how much this sucker will cost, but you have to think it would be pretty pricey.
