The legendary and controversial hip hop star Kanye West says he is done with Donald Trump. In a four-hour interview with Forbes, Kanye confirmed that he no longer supports the president. During the interview, Kanye explained that his faith in Trump’s capacity as a leader was shaken during recent Black Lives Matter protests.

“It looks like one big mess to me,” Kanye stated. “I don’t like that I caught wind that he hid in the bunker.”

In prior statements, Kanye had noted that he and the president share “dragon energy,” and that they are both natural leaders. It seems, however, following the infamous bunker incident, that Kanye has changed his assessment.

Kanye Announces Presidential Bid

Earlier this week, Kanye announced a bid for president on Twitter. His wife, Kim Kardashian West, tweeted an American flag emoji in support. Elon Musk, the eccentric CEO of Tesla, also tweeted in support of Kanye’s bid for president. Many pundits, however, noted that Kanye has missed deadlines in several states for registering to be on the ballot.

His announcement, however, prompted a wave of voters opposed to Donald Trump warning against voting for Kanye as a joke. A viral tweet reads, “a joke vote for Kanye is an actual vote for Trump,” suggesting that Trump supporters are unlikely to support the hip hop artist’s long-shot presidential bid. During the interview, Kanye himself noted that his run had the potential to bleed votes from Joe Biden.

Kanye West on the Election

“I’m not denying it, I just told you,” Kanye began. “To say that the Black vote is Democratic is a form of racism and white supremacy,” the musician noted, echoing his defense of his earlier support of Trump.

“I’m not saying Trump’s in my way, he may be a part of my way. And Joe Biden? Like come on man, please. You know? Obama’s special. Trump’s special. We say Kanye West is special. America needs special people that lead. Bill Clinton? Special. Joe Biden’s not special.”

Coronavirus Struck West in February

Kanye also told the publication that he was stricken with COVID-19 in February. He noted that he was shaking, had cold chills, took many hot showers and watched videos explaining what he needed to do to get over it. Doctors, generally, don’t recommend using cloud data to beat a deadly disease, but Kanye seems to have pulled through either way.

Further, he noted that he is praying for a cure to the disease, but he feels as though a vaccine could be dangerous. As for his presidential bid, time will tell if the move results in any real momentum at the polls.
