Former Vice President Joe Biden follows with 15.8 percent, and then Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) with 12.2 percent.

Iowa Caucus Popular Vote vs Delegate Votes

While Buttigieg has a thin lead as far as delegates go, Sanders is leading with the popular vote—this puts Sanders at 26.5 percent compared to Buttigieg at 25 percent. That’s a difference of about 2,500 votes.

The full results of the Iowa caucus are expected to be released by Thursday morning, and the chairman of the Iowa Democratic Party, Troy Price, told CNN that there would be an independent review.

Some Say the Iowa Caucus Numbers Don’t Add Up

The delay in the Iowa Caucus results is making some people ask questions, and they’ve noticed several inconsistencies in the latest batch of numbers.

Chris Schwartz, the Black Hawk County Supervisor, issued the following statement on Twitter:

“We have known for over 24 hours as verified by our county party that @BernieSanders won the #iacaucuses in Black Hawk County with 2,149 votes, 155 County Delegates. #NotMeUs #IowaCaucuses”

He also posted:

“Black Hawk County Caucus Results.

Folks, I don’t know what is going on with the Iowa Democratic Party and the slow trickle of results. I know for a fact that they have had the count from Black Hawk County for over 24 hours and will not clearly explain to anyone, not even me as an elected official what the process is for releasing our results.

I do not understand why these complete results were not released yesterday and the leadership of the Iowa Democratic Party will not tell me. This is not a reflection on our hard working party leaders like Vikki Brown who are being left out in the cold just as  much as you and me and those who worked very hard this whole Caucus season.”

The Iowa Democrats said on Twitter that they’d make a “minor correction” to the last batch of results, to which Bill Neidhardt, the Iowa deputy state director for the Sanders campaign, replied on Twitter, “Day 3 of this mess. Not what I would call a ‘minor issue.’”

Youtube activist Kyle Kulinski also took to Twitter, saying, “So Iowa Dems get caught undercutting Bernie in Black Hawk county and we only know because Black Hawk county released their info on their own? And now Iowa Dems are forced to fix. This is out of this world.”
