Devoted Husband Dies After Visiting Covid-Stricken Wife in the Hospital

Less than three weeks after insisting that he visited his wife on her deathbed, a devoted husband sadly died from the same virus his wife had.

90-year-old Sam Reck visited his wife of 30 years, JoAnn, 86, at Florida’s Lakeland Regional Health Medical Center. He was adamant that he get to see her at least one more time before she passed away.

Doctors warned Sam that he shouldn’t visit his wife as they feared he might contract coronavirus himself. But Sam ignored the doctors and said he had no regrets over spending time with her during her final moments before she died on July 12. Sam later died on August 1. He told his family he was “very happy” that he got a chance to say goodbye.

JoAnn’s son from her first marriage, Scott Hooper, paid tribute to the couple on Facebook, writing:

“Today we lost Sam to the same affliction as our mother three weeks earlier, Covid-19. It felt strange to return to the exact room I last saw my mother, now with Sam going through the same struggle to breathe. He was with us in this room when we all said goodbye to my mom. He was very much a broken man seeing her suffer.”

“After Sam tested positive for Covid, I asked him if he regretted his visit to the hospital. Without pause he replied, ‘Not one second.’

“He said no matter what happens, he was very happy he had the opportunity to say goodbye and hold her hand one more time.”

High School Reports 9 Coronavirus Cases After Crowded Hallway Photo Goes Viral

A photo of crowded hallways went viral last week after a school reopened amid the coronavirus pandemic. Just a few days later, parents were informed that there were nine confirmed cases at the school. That number included six students and three staff members who were all in the school last week.

Since then, more than 250 teachers and students are now quarantined just one week into the new school year. After classes resumed on Monday, multiple students and teachers across the district’s schools tested positive for the virus.

A new report from the American Academy of Pediatrics states that nearly 100,000 children have tested positive for the virus in the last two weeks of July alone.

With this new information, you’d think airlines, including United Airlines group travel, would be more cautious.
