The class of 2020, meaning seniors in both high school and college, are joining up to celebrate their accomplishments virtually.
The hour-long event, which takes place on Saturday, May 16, is called “Graduate Together: America Honors the High School Class of 2020.” Thanks to the novel coronavirus, these students weren’t able to participate in the regular ceremonies their schools normally offer.
So, celebs stepped up to help give them a virtual commencement ceremony to remember.

According to Elite Daily, “students, educators, and their families can make the celebration their own by heading to social media before or during the show. Select local TV stations are expected to highlight high school students in the community. Meanwhile, Twitter will allow users to get in on the conversation with a special hashtag emoji for the Class of 2020 while Snapchat will be offering a #GraduateTogether Lens. People can also use the hashtag #GraduateTogether on any social media platform.”
It might not be a traditional graduation, but honestly? It sounds 1,000x cooler than that. It’s tough that these kids had to switch to online learning for the final part of their senior experience and forego the opportunity to sit in a classroom with their peers. It’s certainly not the “classic” experience.
But LeBron James, Pharrell and Malala all showing up to send you off? That’s pretty sweet.
I wonder if every senior student in America will also receive a copy of Dr. Seuss’ “Oh the Places You’ll Go!” It’s not a real graduation if that doesn’t happen, right?
