Research now proves that there is genuine evidence that taking a “girl’s holiday” improves happiness for women. Of course, most women could have already told you this, but there is now solid proof that yes, women need a break, and the sooner the better.
New research published by Dr. Chopik, a social-personality psychologist in Personal Relationships states that having “girl’s holidays” is extremely important, and has a positive impact on a women’s health and happiness. He says that friendships “are a way to derive all the benefits of being in a relationship with someone without the enormity of it.”
This is because other relationships that women may face in their lives tend to come with a lot of pressure and strings attached, and that these are “relationships of choice. You choose to hang out together because you enjoy each other’s company.”
A 2019 Harvard University study also found similar results, saying, “social connections like these not only give pleasure, they also influence our long-term health in ways every bit as powerful as adequate sleep, a good diet and not smoking.”
Now that you have the perfect excuse to go on a holiday trip with your girlfriends, here are a few ideas to help get you started:
The colder winter air is a perfect excuse to spend a little time together in the mountains. Sit back, relax and talk about all of the gossip you’ve held inside over the past few months. Even better, find one with a hot tub. You’ll thank us later.
You don’t need to go far to have a simple, fun night with your girlfriends. The key is to book a hotel room so the fun doesn’t have to end after a certain hour. Have an old fashioned pajama party, and scrounge up some nostalgic games from your childhood. Apparently they’re more fun when you’re older, since drinking is allowed.
Ok, ok… so the hotel room isn’t a strict requirement. You can also host a sleepover at your own home, but you’ll need to kick any male residents out for the night. Perhaps they can have their own “boys only” holiday? Sounds good to me!
