The country’s top coronavirus medical expert, Dr. Anthony Fauci, is now facing death threats. Because of this, he now requires personal security from law enforcement in an effort to keep him safe from harm.
In a sad turn of events, the expert tasked with helping America fight against the coronavirus pandemic has been forced to secure personal security. CNN was told by a law enforcement official that the Department of Health and Human Services Inspector General asked the US Marshals Service for help with the matter.
HHS officers were deputized by the US Marshals Service to act as personal security for the doctor. The Washington Post was the first to report the threats that Fauci is facing and the need for increased security.
When Fauci was asked about whether he or the coronavirus response coordinator Dr. Deborah Birx had received any threats against them on Wednesday, he said:
“Anything that has to do with security detail I would have to have you [ask your question] to the inspector general of HHS.”

After Dr. Fauci replied to reporters during the White House coronavirus task force briefing, President Donald Trump stepped up to the podium and interrupted him.
“[He] doesn’t need security, everybody loves them,” said Trump. “Besides that, they’d be in big trouble if they ever attacked.”
However, as Fauci spends more time in the public eye, the concern for his welfare has grown. Some fervent right-wing voices haven’t been happy with Fauci’s advice that the country should remain as locked down as possible.
They believe that the restrictions aren’t totally necessary, and many conspiracy theories have been floating about, such as how 5g cellular technology might be playing a role.

After the message started spreading that the restrictions were more damaging than the virus itself, Fauci was among other health advisors on Trump’s team that encouraged a continuation of current guidelines.
This led to Trump extending those guidelines thanks to Fauci and Birx giving a strong presentation that showed between 100,000 to 200,000 Americans dying as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
Last month, Fauci told CNN that “you don’t make the timeline, the virus makes the timeline. You may see in a relatively shorter period of time, when you’re seeing the inkling of the flattening and coming down.”
“But you know, you can’t make an arbitrary decision until you see what you’re dealing with,” Fauci continued. “You need the data.”
