Exposing Trump’s Tax Returns: ‘We’re committed to our mission’ whether or not Trump in White House

Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) says democrats plan to pursue President Trump even after he leaves office.

Waters had started talking about impeaching Trump before he even took office. Now, even if he loses the November election, Waters says she and other democrats will “absolutely” go after Trump’s tax returns.

‘We’re committed to our mission’

On Thursday, July 9, the Supreme Court decided on a case involving Trump’s financial records. NPR explains, “The high court ordered the cases [be] sent back to the lower courts, all but guaranteeing that Trump’s financial records will not be released until after the election. In one of the rulings, Chief Justice John Roberts, writing for the 7-2 majority, affirmed Congress’s right to subpoena information…But he said that power is limited and cannot be used for law enforcement efforts.”

Trump had sued to block the subpoena and claimed “absolute immunity” as president. Instead, maybe he should have learned how to file a late tax return.

Maxine Waters made her thoughts very clear on the matter of Trump’s tax returns during an interview with National Public Radio:

“We’re committed to our mission. We have the oversight responsibility as the Financial Services Committee in Congress, and we will not walk away from this. We will continue to do our work.

“As I have said, we believe that there are issues involved, you know, related to money laundering…and some other kinds of things that certainly this president would have to answer to whether or not he’s still the president.”

Judge rejects Trump’s claim of ‘absolute immunity’

Although Trump tried to claim immunity from the subpoena, Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. wasn’t having it. He wrote, “Two hundred years ago, a great jurist of our Court established that no citizen, not even the President, is categorically above the common duty to produce evidence when called upon in a criminal proceeding. We reaffirm that principle today.”

He continues, “…the president is neither absolutely immune from state criminal subpoenas seeking his private papers nor entitled to a heightened standard of need.”

Additionally, Justices Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh were in the majority.

President Donald Trump clapped back on Twitter, writing,

“The Supreme Court sends case back to Lower Court, arguments to continue. This is all a political prosecution. I won the Mueller Witch Hunt, and others, and now I have to keep fighting in a politically corrupt New York. Not fair to this Presidency or Administration!”

Waters: Trump tries to ‘get into people’s heads and indoctrinate them’

However, Waters didn’t hold back either.

“This president has a way of trying to get into people’s heads and indoctrinate them,” she told NPR. He’s going try to conclude that this report is proof that there is no collusion and you have a lot of his sycophants who will take the nod from him and they’ll say the same thing.

“This is not the end of anything. Well, it is the end of the report and the investigation by Mueller, but those of us who share these committees with our oversight because there is so much that needs to be taken a look at this point. It is not the end of everything.”
