This dog got revenge when her owners accidentally locked her out of their home in McDonough, Georgia. The video, captured on a doorbell cam, shows the moment when the dog’s face humorously pops into the bottom of the frame, sniffing around.
The clever pup has seen people hit that button and make a sound before, so she tries it out for herself.
Chika, the dog in the video, was accidentally left out by her owners that night. Her owners, Robert and Angelia Fox, locked up for the night without realizing Chika was still outside. Chika, ever the clever dog, knew a way to get her owners’ attention, even when they were sleeping, thankfully.
The doorbell cam video shows the cute dog popping up, sniffing all around the doorbell, and then mashing the button with her nose. In the background, the doorbell chime can be heard. Chika then dutifully turns to keep guard of the porch while she waits to be let in.
Chika then turns and runs off after something she hears in the distance, disappearing from view. A few moments later, she returns and mashes the doorbell again. This time, she uses her paw, resulting in another chime that can be heard in the background.
Meanwhile, Robert and Angelia, as well as their son, Gavin Cooper, were all fast asleep. The video ends with Chika patiently stepping back on the porch and waiting for her owners to come collect her. Thankfully, Robert heard the second doorbell chime and came around to let the sweet dog back into the house.
While it’s fortunate (and adorable) that Chika knew how to use the doorbell to alert her owners to her predicament, not all dogs are so lucky. Some are too small to hit the doorbell button, while others might be too frightened to puzzle out the solution if they’re outside all alone.
Dog owners should take care to ensure that their four-legged friends are indoors with them when they lock up for the night. While Robert made an honest mistake, it’s good fortune that Chika was okay and got inside with no issue.
