Electronic cigarettes, or ‘vapes’, are obscenely popular right now. It seems like every shady strip mall as a weird vape store in the corner selling accessories and a variety of flavors for your vape. Many people are touting electric cigarettes as a revolutionary way to quit smoking… but does it actually work, or is it just another way to get nicotine inside of you?
A recent study suggests that for some people, vaping can actually increase your likelihood of quitting smoking. The problem? You already have to be very motivated to quit in the first place, otherwise, it will not work and you will just be replacing one addiction for another.
A staggering 80% of those who quit cigarettes and nicotine still used their vape, they just didn’t use a nicotine cartridge in it.
Studies have also shown that vaping has a similar effect on your airways as traditional cigarettes do, which isn’t ideal, and some people find it harder to quit after using a vape because of the variety of scents and options open to them.
