When Noah Blanks was just four years old, his father noticed something odd about one of his eyes. After a quick search on Google, his father Ollie and his mother Laila learned about the possibility of retinoblastoma. They were horrified when photos they took of their son showed a white reflection in the pupil of the affected eye.
As a result, the boy ended up needing to have his eye surgically removed. “I had an anger and heartache raging inside me that our little boy had fought so hard. But I also wanted the cancer gone and I knew that once his eye had been removed it couldn’t hurt him anymore.”
Noah now wears a prosthetic eye and is doing well. “I’m relieved Noah had the surgery rather than going through more treatment and it was the right decision for our family,” said Laila.
People don’t stress the importance of regularly seeing an eye doctor as much as other doctors. The next time you wonder, Should I look for eye exams near me? The answer is yes, you should. Proactive attention to the eyes saved Noah’s life.

The top legislative branch in China passed a proposal this week to ban all consumption and trade of wild animals, a practice that is believed to have led to the spread of the country’s deadly coronavirus outbreak.
The new policy “comprehensively bans the consumption of wild animals” and “will impose heavier punishment” against offenders, according to People’s Daily.
Chinese health officials say that they believe the virus emerged from a market in the central city of Wuhan and passed onto humans through wildlife that was sold as food, including snakes and bats.
