When a bridesmaid was told she could wear anything to her sister’s wedding, she took that to heart. Some people would have chosen a simple gown, or perhaps a sharp pants suit. Jumpers are very popular right now.
Instead, this bridesmaid showed up in a blow-up Tyrannosaurus Rex costume.
Did we mention she was the maid of honor? Oh yeah, this T-Rex was the maid of honor.
Deanna Adams was getting married to her then-fiancé Joey in Nebraska, and texted her younger sister, Christina Meador, asking her to be the maid of honor. Adams knew that Meador wouldn’t have a ton of money for an elaborate bridesmaids’ gown, so she told her – and the other bridesmaids – that they could wear whatever they wanted.
The event was held in a back garden of a home, and while Adams wore a long white princess gown, the vibe was more “casual”. Joey wore his white button-up with the sleeves rolled up, and the officiant appears to be wearing jeans in the ceremony pictures.
Meador said if she was going to spend more than $50 on an outfit, it should be something she would get a lot of use out of. According to an interview after the ceremony, a T-Rex costume had always been something she wanted to own.
Luckily, Adams wasn’t taken completely off guard when Meador walked down the aisle ahead of her in her T-Rex suit. She had first texted the bride when she had the idea, and Adams found it hilarious.
In the months leading up to the wedding, Meador floated several other “silly” ideas to her sister, like a walking Tardis box, but the dino kept sticking around.
She even bought an “emergency” dress at a thrift store just weeks before the big day, but then she lost weight and the dress didn’t fit quite right. It seems like the T-Rex was just meant to be.
While Adams gave Meador plenty of chance to back out, she stuck to her guns.
On her way home from her sister’s wedding, Meador posted a picture of herself towering over the bride and other bridesmaids in her outfit. Her caption was “When you’re maid of honor and told you can wear anything you choose… I regret nothing”.
It has been shared over 35,000 times and landed on the front page of Reddit after someone posted the picture there.
The internet has a lot of feelings about Meador’s costume, ranging from “I should do that for my wedding!” to “You are aggressively attention-seeking”.
The biggest problem with it? The suit was apparently very hot, leaving her uncomfortable for most of the wedding.
