Instead of vows, this bride had a different approach to her wedding day. When a series of texts the night before she said I do to her fiancé turned her life upside down, she decided to get the ultimate revenge: reaving his cheating ways to everyone on their wedding day.
It’s a bold strategy.
All names in this story have been changed for their privacy, though we’re sure everyone in town is talking about this wedding now.
Casey was having drinks with her bridesmaids the night before her big day when she got a text message. She checked her phone without thinking twice, presuming it was a good luck or congratulation text from friends or family.
Instead, it was from a number she didn’t recognize. A series of pictures of her fiancé Alex with another woman. Then there were screenshots of texts between the two, indicating an affair that had started months ago, before the couple was even engaged, up until just a few days before their wedding.
The last text the number sent was “I wouldn’t marry him. Would you?” A little dramatic from a woman sleeping with another woman’s man, but we understand.
Her bridesmaids insisted she call off the wedding immediately, but Casey was conflicted (and a little drunk.) She decided to sleep on the problem and give it until the morning to decide. One day wouldn’t make a difference.
When she woke, she said she knew “exactly” what she had to do. Casey clearly has a flair for the dramatic.
She walked down the aisle to her fiancé, Alex. Instead of taking his hands or letting her officiant speak, she turned to the crowd and apparently said, “There will be no wedding today.” She told the crowd of their closest friends and family, “Alex is not who I thought he was.”
Alex apparently tried to stop her, but she took out her phone and started reading the texts his affair partner sent her. They included things like “I wish my GF had half the skills you did”. Brutal.
Alex and his best man walked out of the church before she was finished sharing her new discovery.
Afterward, she said the reception was still on. Everything was paid for, after all. Casey decided to call it a “celebration of honesty, finding true love and following your heart even when it hurts”.
It takes a lot of guts to face a crowd and do that.
